Coaching can be an invaluable resource for leaders and managers in a wide range of circumstances. Transitions into new roles or organisations, challenging working relationships or simply a lack of opportunity to think and develop new ideas can all stand in the way of us performing to our highest potential. Coaching offers a confidential, objective and positive space in which to identify ambitious goals and the practical steps required to achieve them.

Outcomes experienced by coachees include:

• Accelerated transition into new roles
• A deeper understanding of behaviours resulting in enhanced relationships and team working
• Identification of innate strengths and how to capitalise on these strengths
• Insight into barriers to performance and ways in which these can be overcome
• Improved insight into the impact they have on the wider systems in which they work and the influence that these systems have on them

As well as improving the coachee’s performance, these outcomes also inevitably have a positive impact on organisational performance. This can be through, for example, more cohesive teams, greater success in effecting organisational change and improved alignment between individual and organisational goals.

During coaching sessions, Lucy uses a range of proven coaching models and concepts together with insightful questions and some healthy challenge in support of the achievement of identified goals.

The format and content of coaching is tailored to each individual’s requirements. Typically, following a successful initial ‘chemistry’ meeting (to ensure that there is a comfortable ‘fit’ between coach and coachee), a programme of coaching is agreed which is based on either a specific time period or number of sessions (normally no fewer than 5). Each session is usually 1½ to 2 hours. Where coaching is sponsored by an organisation, there can be a session held at the outset of the process where all parties will agree the coaching objectives.
